RE: ALPhA Cessation of Operations
Dear Members, Business Associates and Friends,
I wanted to inform you that it has become necessary for ALPhA to cease doing business effective December 31st, 2006. Unfortunately, ALPhA can no longer exist as a sustainable business and its purpose has run its course. I want to thank each of you for your support of ALPhA during the six years of its existence. Each of you played an important role in making possible the many things we accomplished.
ALPhA did much over the years to educate and promote to the industry about the complex medication needs of assisted living residents. Pharmacists, drug manufacturers, CMS, assisted living facilities themselves and many other stakeholders now realize that assisted living residents are not your typical retail patient but rather individuals with complex medication needs similar to skilled nursing patients. I believe ALPhA served its purpose early on in this regard and many other fine organizations are now promoting this same message.
I personally am pursuing endeavors in technology for LTC pharmacies, and dedicated to providing effective solutions to improve efficiencies, patient care and profits in a highly competitive market. I am currently heading up sales for Integra, which many of you know is the market leader for Document Workflow Management in LTC Pharmacy. Additionally, I am a partner in an exciting company named Critical Entry Data Systems or C.E.D.S for short. C.E.D.S. provides outsourced data entry services to LTC pharmacies at a much lower cost and higher quality than they can do themselves. Additionally, it eliminates many difficult employment issues and allows pharmacies to focus on their customers and businesses. You will see these and many other exciting technologies that will be adding tremendous value to the business of LTC pharmacy in 2007 and beyond.
Again, I would like to thank each of you for your individual contributions over the years and am sure our paths will cross again. I will maintain my same contact information of bsmith@alpha-rx.com and 954-566-9843 or 954-224-6333. I look forward to seeing or speaking with you soon.
Sincerely,
Brian T. Smith
